“My preparation as well as my delivery has improved...”
“Each moment I am amazed at how proper tools can improve your ministry. By tools I even include the times I have spent in class and continue to be in class. The recent block class has added another edge to my effectiveness in ministry. The past two weeks after the block class I have been putting into practice what I learned and I can see that my preparation as well as my delivery has improved. Just as every lecturer at CABC has emphasized, I am seeing what an impact it has when you handle God’s word correctly. I relish this opportunity that I have to be at CABC and please continue to help through your prayers. Greet your family and those who are co-laborers to the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Yours in Christ, Pastor Edward - Kakolo Faith Baptist” (Pastor Mwanisa, Zambian Pastor).
Preach the Word - Expository Preaching Class 2008: This month Central Africa Baptist College held its third annual Expository Preaching class (pictures included in the pdf download). This class is an important aspect of our training endeavor as it equips men to rightly handle the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). This month men gathered from Zambia to attend the 20 hour block class taught by Dr. Steve Hankins. Over 40men attended this class that offered a blended approach to homiletics and hermeneutics. Thank you for praying. Please continue to pray as we begin to prepare for our annual leadership conference this November. Dr. Sam Horn will return to teach Eschatology during the pastor’s block. Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Jones will be our guest speakers during the regular sessions of the conference. Men and women throughout central southern Africa plan to be in attendance. Please pray with us that the Lord would stir our hearts by continuing to mold us to be like Him and equipping us for ministry. We have but one life, and that life is being spent today. Serve Him with gladness (Psalm 100:2).
“The Lord used the class to teach me what I should be as a preacher.”
“It is indeed a joy to comment on the block classes we have, the past one in particular since it is the most recent. I would like to say I was blessed. First, I was blessed to hear a brother uphold the Word as I do as I also preach in the midst of opposition and misunderstanding - to be reminded, and firmly so, of the importance of preaching. Second, I learned the importance of a clear conscience in my preaching ministry. I have been left with a desire for holiness. The Lord used the class to teach me what I should be as a preacher.” Pastor Francis - Chipata Faith Baptist" (Pastor Kaunda, Zambian Pastor).
Only the Beginning: Though we are half way through our third academic year we are still in the formative years at Central Africa Baptist College. There remains a great need for godly men to give the strength of their years to help train men across Africa. The starting of a true training endeavor simply can not be realized in a few short years but must have dedicated men willing to spend and be spent for God’s glory and Christ’s church. The sprint laps are over and the endurance runners are gearing up for a long race. To Him be glory alone for the daily grace He gives as we confess that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us! This is what makes these years both exciting and exasperating. Exciting because we get to see first hand the amazing way in which God is allowing His Word to spread rapidly and be glorified! Exasperating because Satan would desire to distract and divide during these times of great blessing and growth. Our enemy desires that we grow weary and give up. The church planting and college ministry in Zambia are certainly in no position for any man to leave his post. The laborers are few. This is a needy country near the center of a desperately needy continent. The wall is not yet built and the enemies’ arrows continue to fly. There are good national men yet many more are needed. The glaring need is training. CABC stands in need of more dedicated men to help teach and train national evangelists, pastors, and teachers across Africa. The crying need is not for sterile academicians but for men who embrace the work of a pastor, teacher, and an evangelist. Please pray with us that the Lord of the harvest would send forth more laborers into His harvest in Africa (Matthew 9:37-38). Pray also that the Lord would continue to raise up choice national men to be trained at CABC and to remain faithful as they return to their places of ministry across Africa.
